Back In The Gym

2 years ago I would go to the gym or exercise at home at least 4 times a week. During this time I stared a new job which made it a little more difficult for me to get to the gym regularly.

Also working longer hours, and having to look after kids in the evening I chose to ‘rest’ in my down time (which isn’t very much time).

I haven’t put on a great deal of weight, but my body is not where I was, and I’m not happy about that.

January this year I decided enough was enough, I didn’t like the way I was stated to look in my clothes, I needed to get back into it. So I started going to the gym at lunch times, I went Monday to Thursday every week for the whole month.

By the end of the month the effects of the snack draw at work had started to disappear and my jeans stared to feel comfortable again.

I continued to go during February but by March I was going only twice a week. Friends at work were saying “we need to catch up let’s go to lunch, go tomorrow” tomorrow came and they were all going to Wagamama and I hadn’t been in ages. So now it’s 22nd of May and I can count on 1 hand the times I’ve been to the gym πŸ˜•

Eating everything in sight and not my usual healthy eating, my jeans are starting to feel tight again, and I go on holiday at the end of next month. Something needs to be done.

So day 1 of getting healthy again and sticking to it!!!

I went during lunch time today and it felt so refreshing to be back. I manage to do about 40 mins of exercise. Today I focused on legs because I really want to tone up my thighs.

I started with about 10 mins of skipping, this a struggle 😡 but powered though. Then kettle bells for another 10 mins, all different combinations. I then moved onto squats with weights (only 8kg) as well as a resistant band. I only managed 30 squats. 2 years ago I could do 100 with 25kg weights.

As I could no longer walk I moved onto sit ups. First I did 20 lie backs with 8kg kettle bell. Then sit-ups with an exercise ball, passing the ball from my legs to my hands from a stretched out position. I did 30 of these, 3 sets of 10.

I did a few other sit-up and bum work outs before I moved onto planking. Could only manage 2 sets of 30 seconds. Then enough was enough I was gymed out lol.

Was a great work out, I’m looking forward to going back tomorrow.
